Preface:

ItwasearlyDecember,andtheairwascrispandcold.Theskieswereadeepshadeofgrey,andthegroundwasbarrenandbleak.Theleaveshadallfallenfromthetrees,andtheonlysoundthatcouldbeheardwasthesoundofwindhowlingthroughtheemptybranches.Everyonewasbundledupintheirwarmestclothes,huddledinsidetoescapethebitingcold.Butforoneyounggirl,theonsetofwinterbroughtwithitasenseofexcitementandwonder.Shehadbeenwaitingforthismomentallyear–thefirstsnowfalloftheseason.

Paragraph1:

Asshelookedoutherwindow,shecouldseethesnowflakesswirlingthroughtheairliketinyballerinas.Theydancedaroundeachotherinagracefulwaltz,eachoneuniqueandintricateinitsdesign.Shewatchedinaweastheylandedsoftlyontheground,transformingthedulllandscapeintoawinterwonderland.

Paragraph2:

Withoutasecondthought,shebundledupinherwarmestcoatandboots,eagertoexplorethismagicalnewworld.Asshesteppedoutside,shewasimmediatelyhitwithawaveofcoldairthatseemedtoseepintoeveryinchofherbody.Butshedidn'tmind.Infact,sherelishedinthefeelingofbeingaliveandpresentinthismoment.

Paragraph3:

Shetookadeepbreathandlookedupatthesky,feelingasthoughshewasstandingatthecenteroftheworld.Thesnowflakescontinuedtofallgentlyaroundher,eachoneaddingtotheblanketofwhitethatcoveredtheground.Sheclosedhereyesandletoutasighofcontentment,feelingasthoughthismomentwouldlastforever.

Paragraph4:

Asshewalkedthroughthesnow-coveredstreets,shefeltlikeacharacterinafairytale.Thesnowflakescontinuedtodancearoundher,andshetwirledandspunwiththem,feelingfreeanduninhibited.Shelaughedoutloud,feelinglikeachildonceagain.

Paragraph5:

Asshereachedthepark,shesawagroupofchildrenbuildingasnowman.Theywelcomedherwithopenarms,andtogethertheyworkedtocreatethemostmagnificentsnowmananyonehadeverseen.Theylaughedandjoked,throwingsnowballsateachotherandrollingaroundinthesnowlikecarefreeanimals.

Paragraph6:

Asthesunbegantoset,sherealizedthatitwastimetoheadhome.Shesaidgoodbyetohernewfriendsandstartedtomakeherwaybackthroughthesnow-coveredstreets.Butasshewalked,shecouldn'thelpbutfeelasenseofsadness.Thefirstsnowofwinterwasmagical,butitwouldneverlastforever.

Paragraph7:

Shewalkedslowernow,takingineverymomentandsavoringthefeelingofthesnowbeneathherfeet.Shelookedupattheskyoncemore,watchingasthesnowflakescontinuedtofallgentlyfromabove.Itwasthenthatshenoticedsomethingshehadn'tseenbefore–asinglesnowflakethatstoodoutfromtherest.

Itwasunlikeanysnowflakeshehadeverseenbefore.Itshimmeredinthelight,castingasoftglowthatseemedtoilluminateeverythingaroundit.Shereachedouttotouchit,butassoonasherfingersbrushedagainstit,itdisappearedintothinair.

Confusedbutcurious,shecontinuedonherway.Butshecouldn'tshakethefeelingthattherewassomethingspecialaboutthatonesnowflake.Ithadfeltlikeamessage,areminderthateventhoughwinterwasfleeting,therewasstillmagictobefoundineverymoment.

Paragraph10:

Whenshefinallyarrivedbackhome,shekickedoffherbootsandsettledintoacozychairbythefireplace.Sheclosedhereyesandletoutacontentedsigh,feelinggratefulfortheexperienceshehadjusthad.Sheknewthatshewouldneverforgetthisfirstsnowofwinter,orthesenseofwonderandjoythathadaccompaniedit.

Paragraph11:

Asthenightworeon,thesnowoutsidecontinuedtofall.Butnow,itwasdifferent.Now,everysnowflakeseemedtoholdaspecialmagic,asecretpromiseofjoyandwonder.Theyounggirlsmiledtoherself,feelingasthoughshewaspartofasecretworldthatonlyaselectfewwereprivilegedtoknow.

Paragraph12:

Shestayeduplatethatnight,readingstoriesanddrinkinghotcocoa.Butevenasshefellasleep,shecouldn'thelpbutdreamofthemagicalsnowflakeandthewondersitheld.

Paragraph13:

Thenextmorning,whenshewokeup,sheknewthatsomethingwasdifferent.Shecouldsenseitintheair,thewaythesunlightstreamedinthroughthewindowsandilluminatedeverycornerofherroom.Shegotdressedquicklyandranoutside,eagertoseewhatthenewdayheld.

Paragraph14:

Assoonasshesteppedoutside,sheknewthathersenseshadnotdeceivedher.Theworldwasdifferentnow,transformedbythemagicofthefirstsnowfall.Thetreeswerecoveredinalayerofsnow,sparklinginthesunlightlikejewels.Thegroundwaspristinewhite,untouchedbyfootprintsorothersignsofhumanexistence.

Paragraph15:

Shewanderedthroughthesnow-coveredstreetsonceagain,marvelingatthebeautyofitall.Shefeltasthoughshewaswalkingthroughadream,aworldthatexistedonlyinherimagination.Butitwasreal,anditwasbreathtaking.

Paragraph16:

Asshewalked,shecouldn'thelpbutthinkofthespecialsnowflakeonceagain.Ithadfeltlikeasign,amessagefromtheuniversetellingherthattherewasmagictobefoundineverymoment,ifonlysheknewwheretolook.

Paragraph17:

Shedecidedtogobacktothepark,toseeifshecouldfindanymoremagichiddeninthesnow.Asshewalked,shefeltasenseofanticipationbuildinginsideher.Shewasn'tsurewhatshewaslookingfor,butsheknewthatitwasouttheresomewhere.

Paragraph18:

Whenshearrivedatthepark,shesawthatitwascoveredinfootprintsnow.Thesnowmanthatsheandherfriendshadbuiltthedaybeforewasnowjustapileofsnow,nolongermagnificentorawe-inspiring.Butstill,shesearched,hopingtofindsomethingthatwouldreignitethatsenseofwonderandmagic.

Paragraph19:

Andthen,justasshewasabouttogiveup,shesawit.There,nestledinthesnow,wasatinyredbird.Itwassosmallthatshealmostmissedit,butassoonasshesawit,sheknewthatitwasexactlywhatshehadbeensearchingfor.

Paragraph20:

Thebirdlookedupatherwithbrighteyes,andforamoment,theyjuststaredateachother.Andthen,withoutwarning,thebirdflewaway.Shewatchedasitdisappearedintothesky,feelingasthoughshehadjustwitnessedamiracle.

Paragraph21:

Shewalkedbackhomethen,feelingmorealiveandpresentthaneverbefore.Thesnowwasstillfallinggentlyaroundher,butnowitheldadifferentkindofmagic–apromiseofhopeandwonderthatwouldstaywithherlongafterthesnowhadmeltedaway.

Paragraph22:

Andso,asshesatbythefirethatnightonceagain,sippingherhotcocoaandreadingstories,sheknewthatthisfirstsnowofwinterhadchangedherforever.Ithadshownherthateveninthedarkestandcoldestofseasons,therewasstillmagictobefoundineverymoment–allshehadtodowasopenherheartandlookforit.
